Our
Story
We’re a mostly fur-family based in Otepoti Dunedin, NZ, spending time going on walks and spending time reading (or naps) in front of the fire.
In working on my own watercolours skills I found a passion for mixing colours, making my own paint and it was all downhill from there.
Why Yonder Paints?
Yonder Paints are locally hand-crafted in Ōtepoti, NZ with a focus on producing artisan quality paints that are accessible and affordable to anyone.
At Yonder, we’re committed to eco-friendly solutions and 3D print our own paint pans from 100% recycled NZ filament. These are filled with hand-made Yonder paint, each paint unique.
The Yonder Way
I make my own binder, from gum arabic, clove oil and vegetable glycerin. The clove oil is a natural preservative and the glycerin makes re-wetting your paints a little easier. It also gives the paint a bit of shine
Binder is mixed with pigment which I source as locally as possible, and artist-grade. Paints are mulled on a glass slab to ensure it all binds together and the paint is less opaque, which is a signature of watercolour paints.
I make really small batches so they are 100% hand-made, and poured.
